Riviera Beach's Cultural Heritage celebrated on Black History Month tour for African American Travel Club from Miami

Members of the Retirees, Seniors and Friends were hosted on a Black History Month bus tour to Riviera Beach, Florida. The Retirees, Seniors & Friends is a travel club that consists of African Americans from Dade County and Broward County, Florida. The tour was sold-out with 61 members who are mostly retired professionals who had successful careers in education, government, medicine and the military; and as small business owners. Thursday, February 18, 2018 marked the 8th annual Black History Month tour for the group organized by the non-profit Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History.

 he narrated Black History Month bus tour Thursday, February 15, 2018 featured Riviera Beach, Florida visiting 3 sites in the city that are The Marina Village, Washington Elementary School and Hurst Chapel AME. African Americans were among the first settlers to Riviera Beach, Florida pre-dating its incorporation in 1922. 

Previous Black History Month tours for this African American travel club have gone to Delray Beach, Lake Worth, Titusville, Sanford, Fort Pierce, Deerfield Beach and Belle Glade, Florida. 
Washington Elementary School in Riviera Beach, Florida was one of the 'colored' schools during legal segregation. Following.  The school still continues and has an B grade rating.
